Shebab Marzban is co-founder of Shekra; visiting professor for Islamic finance at Zayed University; and an expert in computer-based financial services.
Prior to that, he worked with a number of start-ups as Product Development Director. He was Head of Research for IdealRatings Inc., a San Francisco-based start-up focusing on socially responsible fund services.
He has been a visiting fellow at Durham University and is currently a visiting lecturer at various international universities; a technical committee member of the Finance Accreditation Agency in Malaysia; as well as board member of the Egyptian Islamic Finance Association.
He received his PhD specialising in sharia-compliant portfolio management from the University of Cologne in Germany. He has published works in the areas of sharia-compliant crowdfunding, entrepreneurship and Islamic funds, which have appeared or were presented in numerous ranked international journals and events.
